The shuttle bus to Earl Shapiro Hall will depart from the Kimbark Street entrance of Gordon Parks Arts Hall at 11 a.m. For those not taking the shuttle, the tour will begin at Earl Shapiro Hall at 11:30 a.m.

Watch a series of short documentaries by students, including 15-minute documentary about the experience of students from Lab and the UChicago Charter School, who worked together for the past 18 months to create and produce Ruin & Redemption. Shown in a continuous loop from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Historic Campus Group Building Tour

Join us for a guided tour of the interior and exterior of the historic campus. The tour departs from the Rogers Lobby and includes Gordon Parks Arts Hall, Judd Hall, Blaine Hall, Belfield Towers, and U-High. Gordon Parks Arts Hall, which opened in the 2015–16 school year, is Lab’s newest building and provides state-of-the-art facilities for the exploration of all arts media.

Alumni Speaker: Amanda Williams, '92

Amanda is a visual artist best known for her series, "Color(ed) Theory," exhibited at Chicago’s inaugural Architecture Biennial. 

Amanda is a highly sought after lecturer and the subject of many articles on the relationship between art, race, and urbanism. She, in collaboration with Andres Hernandez, is the recipient of the Pulitzer Arts Foundation’s 2017 PXSTL, a public art commission. Her work is currently on display at Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago and in the Corvus Gallery at Lab. Amanda was recently named to the multidisciplinary Exhibition Design team for the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago.

Attend the premiere of the joint film project between students from Lab and the UChicago Charter School. This 90-minute feature-length film was written, produced, filmed, and edited as a joint venture between these schools.

Film Synopsis: Mordecai is released from prison after doing hard time for a crime he didn't commit. His only wish is to reconnect with the son he left behind. Will he find the redemption he is searching for or perhaps something else?

U-High Family Festival

Join us for this family-friendly festival to visit with old friends and enjoy special musical performances, carnival games, inflatables, and a picnic with delicious food. Enjoy music provided by DJ Vince Adams and student performers under the tent.

The cost of this event is $30 for adults and $10 for kids ages 5 - 17. There is no charge for children under the age of 5.

Tour cost is $20 per person.

Need a break from all the eating and drinking? Want to learn some new dance moves? Then take a trip over to Kovler Gymnasium for this hip hop dance class.

The class is being sponsored by Alumni Association Executive Board President, Cheryl Cortez, who encourages participants to make a donation to Lab if they have a good time. 

Welcome Back and Brief Remarks from Charlie Abelmann

Get a drink and join your classmates to hear from Lab’s new director of the schools, Charlie Abelmann, who will welcome you back to campus and share some brief thoughts on what he has learned and appreciates about Lab in his first few months.
